Warm ethereal guitar melodies glisten and adorn ‘Strangers’ with beaming glimmers of illumination as Runaway Hounds hone in on their tightly weaved and biting indie sound. With a buoyant, deft drum and bass foundation the track packs in a meaty punch while still maintaining a feathery light texture within a subtle dazed atmosphere. Nonchalant vocals coat the sweet melody in a breezy yet passionate topping. The band explore the concept of love at first sight, both embracing and questioning the feelings encountered at this moment with gentle fluttering instrumentation which twists through darker dizzying soundscapes. The song builds gently to its catchy chorus as the guitars cultivate the majestic and refined tone with a sweet sharp solo while the groove-laced bass accompanies, playfully bouncing and wiggling between the biting guitar. Runaway Hounds are maturing and blossoming beautifully into a band with a sturdy tight and refined sound that is both exciting and enduring.

Runaway Hounds ‘Nightlight’

Wolverhampton’s Runaway Hounds have released their new single ‘Nightlight’. Driven by a passion to create and a love for music, twin brothers Owen (vocals/guitar) and Kent (lead guitar) Stavenuiter spent many of their school years experimenting with genres, sounds and instruments alongside classmate and close friend Dan Glover (bass). However, it was not until late 2016, with the arrival of Callum Ford (drums), that the group found their own distinguished sound and Runaway Hounds was born.In just over a year, the band have played several headline sets in venues in the West Midlands and have taken their sound across the UK, performing to crowds as far as London.Their debut single ‘Rattlesnake’,gained airplay and support from the likes of BBC Introducing along with their second single ‘Sophie’.

‘Nightlight’ is an unblemished clean track that smoulders and burns gradually into a blistering indie number. There is an intense energy behind this tack as in all of Runaway Hounds’ songs however, this number simmers steadily to its crescendo with the backdrop creating a little more space allowing each element to shine. The rumble on bass and drum tap creates a suspenseful intro before the track flourishes into its wonderful flurrying verses. Zesty guitar melodies lament and jingle above this anthemic number creating the perfect tone and ethereal experience. These glorious guitar melodies are the pinnacle of the track, they add such vibrancy and emotion that makes the song come to life in a graceful and beautiful manner while still sliding in a healthy dose of indie rawness. The chorus explodes with punchy drums, sing along ready lyrics and a fantastic bass line weaving between the crashing guitars. Runaway Hounds have clearly taken time to refine their sound. Focusing on their musicianship, they have provided a gripping wholly satisfying track that packs a mighty punch. This four piece are thriving and blossoming in their musical surroundings.

Runaway Hounds ‘Sophie’

Runaway Hounds  are an indie rock band from Wolverhampton comprised of twin brothers Owen Stavenuiter  (vocals/guitar) and Kent Stavenuiter (lead guitar), Dan Glover (bass) and Callum Ford (drums). In just over a year, the band have played several headline sets in venues across the West Midlands and are soon to take their sound across the UK, performing to crowds as far as London. It was in October last year when Runaway Hounds truly began to gain momentum with the release of their debut single ‘Rattlesnake’, gaining airplay and support from the likes of BBC Introducing and amassing over 2,000 listens on Spotify alone in its first few months. The band have now released their new single ‘Sophie’ which was produced by Ryan Pinson and recorded across two days at RML Studios in Wolverhampton.

‘Sophie’ is a zealous shot of guitar laden indie rock glowing with glorious sweet guitar lines that twinkle about the track flooding it with radiant scintillation. It’s a youthful burst of infectious indie rock that displays the bands knack for sublime radiant melodies and intricate instrumentation. The punchy drums and elastic bass slap a nice bit of grit and heftiness into the track but for me those soaring ethereal guitars lift it to breezy anthemic heights. With passionate vocals adding a raspy texture this song is instantly likable and exuberant. Though Runaway Hounds wear their influences on their sleeves they have made an impressive tune that makes these guys ones to keep an eye out for.
