Isaac Butler has just released the video for his brand new single ‘Paranoid’

Isaac Butler has just released the video for his brand new single ‘Paranoid’. Utilising his creativity during the COVID-19 lockdown, he sprang into action and filmed the video completely in isolation.’Paranoid’ follows Isaac Butler’s previous singles ‘Moon Song’, ‘Rescue Me’ and ‘Young Forever’ which have together racked up an amazing 1 million streams on Spotify so far. Butler’s debut single ‘Moon Song’ went on to great success being picked up by German TV show “The Bachelorette”, appearing on the show which broadcasts to over 2 million viewers per episode. Since writing his first song at age 12, and going on to record it for a children’s charity CD, his first love has been music, complete with a passion for writing and performing his own original work.

‘Paranoid’ is a radio ready summer tune that showcases Butler’s melodious songwriting and tight musicianship. Its a fun video featuring three Isaac’s to accompany an upbeat hook filled gem.

Speaking of the video for ‘Paranoid’ Isaac Butler said “I know absolutely nothing about cameras, editing and making videos, throw Covid-19 and lockdown into the mix I was a bit lost! It’s amazing what you can do with an iPhone, your bedroom and a few YouTube tutorials. That sounds a little dodgy! I surprised myself though it was a bit of fun and I enjoyed making it!”

Isaac Butler’s show at The Sound House show is now rescheduled to 9 October 2020, with all original tickets valid for the new date. It is his second headline show, having sold out his debut in Whelan’s last November and follows a jam-packed festival season in 2019, which saw Isaac Butler play a host of festival dates around the country including Electric Picnic and Kaleidoscope.

Isaac Butler ‘Young Forever’ Video

Isaac Butler has just released the video for his latest single ‘Young Forever’ – produced by Philip Magee(Kodaline, The Script, The Academic). It follows previous singles ‘Moon Song’ and ‘Rescue Me’ which have racked up 1 million streams on Spotify.

The ‘Young Forever’ video perfectly captures the essence of the song and the sense of freedom it evokes. Butler and Mike Timms take to the town to enjoy the freedom of feeling young. With tattoos, arcade games and frolicking about, the video is a heart warming watch for sure.

Speaking of the video Isaac Butler said: “This video is our best yet and for sure the most fun to make. Mike Timms is a phenomenal actor who shared some awesome stories about his college days at Trinity and his years of lecturing at UCD….. some I can’t repeat!” He has given me a totally new outlook on living life with passion and growing old with grace. I used to be a bit scared of getting older but now in a way, I’m almost looking forward to it. Mike had never been in a tattoo parlour, his reaction was hilarious!! Mike is the perfect embodiment of what it means to live for now and be ‘Young Forever’”.

As well as gearing up to head back into the studio, Isaac Butler will take to the stage for his second headline show at The Sound House, Dublin on Friday 3rd April having sold out his debut headline show in Whelan’s last November. Minutes to Midnight ‘Skinny Kid’ Video Premiere

Minutes to Midnight has released a video to his single ‘Skinny Kid’. After a long stint as an audio professional in the gaming industry, Simone (Minutes to Midnight) has now turned his focus into music production. After extensive experience working with other artists, arranging, co-writing, and mixing, M2M has decided to tell a very personal story of his in the medium of a concept album. “After 1989 – A Trip To Freedom” is the debut solo album. It’s the result of a personal journey through a painful family legacy during World War II, and the tumultuous decades that followed.

‘Skinny Kid’ is a tender delicate number as Simone expresses emotional and harrowing themes through a bitter, icy piano and tense progressive soundscapes. With a steady beat pounding through weaving guitars and ominous rumble on bass, the track projects images of isolation and loneliness by means of sinister chilling twinkles and tender vocals. The haunting backing vocals and lamenting pines on guitar have a chilling element as Simone portrays this harsh experience with sublime instrumentation and vivid musicianship.

The black and white video allows a train journey to tell the tale of how a young man managed to escape Germany in 1945. With clips from the war mirroring more modern clips as footsteps lead us to  what happened to one individual during the war.

About the album Simone said : “ Summer, mid-eighties. During a family dinner, after a glass too many, my grandfather let a story slip from his past. He told us how fascists captured and sent him to Germany, where he spent four years in Sachsenhausen concentration camp, on the outskirts of Berlin. The Nazis spared his life because of his craftsmanship as a shoemaker. In April 1945, a few days before the Allies stormed into the city, he managed to escape with a fellow Russian inmate. They crossed Europe and came back home. I grew up during the Cold War, obsessed by a shared feeling of impending doom. My very first trip was to Prague and Berlin, a few months after the collapse of the Wall. I watched a divided city as it still was, but didn’t dare to visit the camp. Many years later, I was able to put my resolve to the test. Present day. Once again, I’m back in Berlin, this time to finally see the Konzentrationslager. I’m on the S-Bahn train to Oranienburg. At each station, my mind goes back in time, to the tumultuous decades that preceded the 9th of November 1989, when people were able to cross the Wall. I’m thinking about the connection between my grandfather’s story and the convoluted menacing world order that came out of it. When I finally cross the steel gate of Sachsenhausen, I realise how this whole story is about being a prisoner. Whether in a concentration camp, behind a wall, caught within propaganda or fearing a nuclear holocaust.”

Mini Mansions have revealed the new video for ‘Midnight In Tokyo’

Mini Mansions have revealed the new video for ‘Midnight In Tokyo’, taken from their Works Every Time EP which was released on September 28. The video, directed by Will Goodan, finds Michael Shuman headed to Tokyo to shoot the visual. Following on from their critically acclaimed 2015 album ‘The Great Pretenders’, which saw the band tour with the likes of Tame Impala, Arctic Monkeys and Royal Blood, only now are the LA trio ready to unmask themselves more than ever before. The recording of the Works Every Time EP at Hollywood’s Barefoot Recording Studios was co-produced by the band and Cian Riordan, who worked with them on their prior record, whilst Jon Theodore (Queens of the Stone Age) and Darren Weiss (Papa) tracked the drums. Dash Hutton (HAIM) will be playing live with the band.

When we had a chat with Michael Shuman about the new EP last week  he had this to say about  ‘Midnight In Tokyo’

” Well, even though it’s a pretty fun, danceable track the content is maybe the most literal song I’ve ever written. Midnight In Tokyo is about a trip I had in Tokyo it was a really deep existential one for me. It was with a ex of mine and I got engaged at midnight on new year’s eve in Tokyo and the song kind of starts there. I don’t know how you can talk about a relationship within 3 and a half minutes but it kind of spans the whole thing because I finished the song after we broke up so it was a really weird thing to do, to try to get all that information into a song.

But then production wise I’m a big fan of Damon Albarn and I started as a big Blur fan and I like how he has progressed. He has gone from punk rock to pop to hip hop. Whatever he does- The Gorillaz, which I think is so unique and I think he is one of the great innovators of our time. So it was a little inspired by that. I listened to a lot of Blur so musically that was my biggest inspiration too.”

SLF&Co ‘Red’ Video

SLF&Co have released their new video for ‘Red’ (Lord Fluffy & SLF Remix) [feat. Vicky Harrison] from the ‘No Beats In Algebra’ album just in time for Valentines day with the message “It’s all about the LOVE LOVE LOVE …so when it wears off fill it with a little RED”.’Red’, with its sticky thick  gloomy beat smothered in swirling plush soul keyboards and psychedelic soundscapes is a gloopy concoction that starts off dark and eerie and builds into a full out trip-hop acid bath. Its seductively sleek composure is reinforced by the lingering echo vocals which create a spine-chilling dreamy entrapment in the song. It’s trippy and rave ready. The video is a collage of hallucinogenic inducing images that flicker and move with each beat, pulse and groove. The images and colours are fascinating creating the perfect canvas to zone out to. As the track becomes heavier the video becomes more trippy and dazzling.

When asked about the video for ‘Red’ video creator, Jacob Tomlinson said “My aim was to bring out the combination of heavy atmosphere and nervous energy which makes this song so special.I assigned different shapes to the skittish drums and drew them frame by frame to the track. I then drew a series of stamp like posters to showcase the lyrics that hide deeper in the mix, setting everything on a blown out time-lapse of a busy junction I took last year.My hope is that people can watch the video in full screen and zone out, getting lost in the haziness of the synths and dreamlike vocals from Vicky Harrison. Then when they’re not expecting it, they get hit by the drums and everything gets a bit weird and cut up.”
