Sad Palace ‘Breeze/ Rainbow Melt’

sad

Sad Palace are a really smooth effortlessly cool indie band I stumbled upon, don’t you just love when that happens. Sad Palace present us with coastal fresh indie pop bursting with rich juicy melodies and slick musicianship while spacing us out with hints of psychedelia.
‘Rainbow Melt’ gives us a sensual sway-like groove and tender velvety vocals wrapped up in edgy indie pop. The razor sharp sting on guitar adds spice and zest to the track while the ripply rhythm keeps the track bouncing along in an almost 70s psychedelic groove. With luring tempting bass and vocals that ooze panache and swagger this track will coax and sweet talk you into pressing repeat. Rich luscious textures and layers gives the track depth and showcases this band’s solid musicianship. While the brazen flashy guitar licks whip and flatter the flaunting track pulling you further into the groove.
‘Breeze’ lulls you into its melodic funky strut almost instantly. With velvety vocals to start cooing and soothing right into the hook driven feet shuffling riff. With psychedelic entrancing instrumentals, this track swirls you into a dreamy blissful euphoric stupor before slapping you back into the rapid bouncy slice of indie pop. The vocals smoothly glide from creamy dreamy haze to bright and bubbly effortlessly, as the guitar illuminates the track with zealous licks and peppy bounce. This track is infectiously catchy and like honey to the ears. Sad Palace know how to write and craft earworm melodies, mix and blend them with fantastic instrumentation. Watch out for these guys.

Blank Parody ‘Locket Picture’

Blank Parody are an Alternative Rock band from Birmingham. Members Joby Fitzgerald (Vocals) Liam Howard (Guitar) Connor Hodgkiss (Drums) Freddie Shaw (Bass) released their début single ‘Dark Pretenders’ which we featured on Indie Buddie earlier this year. They have now released ‘Locket Picture’ which is a taster of what’s to come from their debut EP, set for release in early 2017.
‘Locket Picture’ begins by displaying and solidifying the shiny cleaner polished sound Black Parody are capable of producing with attention to lyrics and melody, while highlighting Fitzgerald’s raspy gritty vocals. Suddenly like a slap in the face we are led galloping through the track with mighty brute force and relentless energy. Its a ferocious mosh pit worthy track that leaves you headbanging in a frenzy without a break to come up for air. Blustery vigorous guitars drive the track, backed by bloodthirsty powerful pounding drums. Shredding guitar solo is air guitar ready and insanely slick. With anthem- like chorus and intense fiery stamina, ‘Locket Picture’ will have a live audience going crazy, its one for the sticky erratic mania of the mosh pit. Another knock- out winner from Blank Parody

Hollie Joyce ‘Poster Girl’

Hollie Joyce is a singer songwriter who is becoming known for her wild, unconventional and ruthlessly blunt style of music. Currently residing in Melbourne Joyce is a songwriter completely in control of her craft. Combining fervent lyrics with distorted and at times eerie tones, Joyce has established a compelling sound that doesn’t hold back. From 70’s horror flicks and spaghetti westerns Joyce has developed a dynamic cacophony that sometimes strays into raucous rock ’n’ roll freak outs, while at other times deviating to the more alluring and melodic. Joyce has released her first single ‘Poster Girl’ off her upcoming EP which is scheduled for release early next year.
‘Poster Girl’ is a fiery garage soul track exuding scalding blistery swagger blended with sizzling sultry soulful tones that coax and sensually lure into the burning gritty garage rock. Joyce sings with strong confident attitude and sass that builds into a howl and an expression-filled scream. Coated in sway-like elastic sensuality and driven with ruckus causing rock and roll the track boils with red hot steamy attitude that is sure to burn everything in its path as it flies past leaving smoke and debris behind. With a western desert saloon cabaret vibe followed by a drunken brawl with a sweltry sting on guitar and punchy drums that leaves you black and blue, Hollie Joyce is on fire.

The Fin.’Through The Deep’ Remix EP

Japanese masters of shimmering ethereal pop, The Fin. have announced an exclusive remix EP, featuring versions remixed by The Field, Ten Fé and All We Are. The ‘Through The Deep’ remix EP features four adventurous reworkings of tracks from their ocean-inspired dream-pop nugget ‘Through The Deep’ which was released in the summer. The remix EP will also serve as a key component of the launch of Spotify in Japan. Hailing from the vibrant Japanese port city of Kobe, The Fin. elected to temporarily relocate to England’s equally bustling capital in autumn 2016 to explore the impact that life in London might bring to bear on their new material. Having signed to Lost In The Manor Records the previous year, the band’s growing renown on these shores has led to a surge of media interest and prime headline slots such as this year’s Great Escape Festival. The Fin. have performed before thousands of rapturous fans at major Japanese festivals including Fuji Rock, Rising Sun and Viva La Rock. Not content with such acclaim in one country alone, Yuto Uchino (vocals and synths), Ryosuke Odagaki (guitar), Takayasu Taguchi (bass) and Kaoru Nakazawa (drums) set their sights worldwide and in 2015 embarked on a major tour of the US, which included a performance at SXSW, before signing to Lost In The Manor and releasing their debut UK EP, ‘Night Time’.
All We Are step up to the plate first with their exceptional rework of ‘Anchorless Ship’. Guro and Luis convert the sparse funk of the original into a haunting cut of anthemic techno, upping the tempo, bottoming out the bass end and decorating the track with dissonant acid stabs. True to All We Are’s psych-disco leanings, their ‘Anchorless Ship’ evolves into a second act with a ferocious tribal edge, and psychedelic stinging acid trip that livens up the original dream pop and introduces an invitation to dance that can’t be refused.
London’s blissful electro-indie pairing Ten Fé follow next artfully crafting their mix around the melodic synth washes of The Fin.’s 60-second ‘Heat’, originally the track shimmers with a chillwave and beautiful ocean lit glittering synths. Ten Fé expand the groove via a punchy bassline set to a motorik pulse, adding a kick and edge to the track. Phasing the original sine-wave oscillations and warping frontman Yuto’s vocal into an alien drawl. This singular piece of extra-terrestrial kraut-funk builds to a euphoric climax, as horn stabs and sustained harmonics add colour to an irresistible clubland vibe.
Stockholm-born, Berlin-based ambient techno producer Axel Willner, aka The Field, transcends the rapturous dream-pop of the EP’s title track ‘Through The Deep ‘ with an extraordinary 12-minute canvas of electro-minimalism. A hypnotic raga for our time, ‘Through The Deep’ here becomes an unusual jewel of rich, breathy experimentalism, almost imperceptibly peaking and trudging along luring and drawing you onto its mesmerising sonic path.
Finally ‘White Breath’ a remix by The Fin.’s vocalist Yuto Uchino takes us to the end of our psychedelic trance with soft electronic waves weaving and swirling in a blissful mind-bending kaleidoscope. Removing the delicate vocals of the original and becoming completely consumed in thick electronic experimental psychedelia. Beautiful warm tones on guitar give us a strong melody to hold onto keeping us afloat from the pulling and swirling abyss of the track.
The ‘Through The Deep’ remix EP is a Pandora box delight, full of mesmerising waves of synths interweaving and washing with acid elements and sonic depths with reverb weighty guitars on top of blissful melodies. The guys did a fantastic job with the remixes however I will say check out the originals first, you will fall in love with them and will only then appreciate the true talent of The Fin. and the effort and craft that went into creating the remixes.

Childcare ‘Film Club’

Londons alternative band Childcare released their new single ‘Film Club’ last month. Band members Ed Cares (singer/songwriter), Emma Topolski (bass), Rich Legate (guitar) and Glyn Daniels (drums) have created their own sound of alternative rock, enthused with the energy of punk and drenched in off-kilter pop. Childcare played some of their first shows at the Reading and Leeds festivals, and soon released their debut single ‘Omega Grey’. The song gained radio play from Annie Mac, Huw Stephens and Steve Lamacq, was named Track of the Day at Radio X and playlisted at Amazing Radio. Also paying close attention were Lost In The Manor Records, who, after witnessing Childcare at one of their vivid and visceral live shows, wasted no time in proffering a contract.
‘Film Club’ proves why Childcare are gaining so much attention. Blasting with a torpedo of killer hooks and a colossal wallop of intense energy, its a mind – blowing flash of Childcare’s talents. With a razor sharp jagged guitar riff and rapid wild global beat this track is the “crème de la crème” of edgy gritty alternative rock. It has everything and more, an anthemic vocal with bouncy sweet interjection on backing vocals, witty lyrics and sick instrumentation. Childcare hit right on the musical nerve and infects you with rich catchy melodies and weaving malleable bass lines, creating tightly compact layers of delicious textures and flavours to sink your teeth into. Exuding swagger and effortless cool charisma this track is a charming strut and prance that will have you moving in no time. Its a must listen. Looking forward to hearing more from Childcare.

Heat ‘Lush’

Montreal post-punk trio Heat will release their debut album, ‘Overnight’, on January 20, 2017 via Topshelf Records (US) / The Hand Recordings (CAN) / Rallye Records (JP). Initially starting “as an excuse to get together and drink”, Heat has grown into something far more significant and new record ‘Overnight’ offers their most notable work to-date. Led by the band’s three founding members, Susil Sharma (Vocals, Guitar, Synth), Matthew Fiorentino (Guitar, Synth), and Raphael Bussieres (Bass), Heat have become known for their dark bruising swagger and solid, old-school aesthetics delivered with a defiantly fresh-faced outlook. They were one of the most buzzed about bands at SXSW in 2015 and have been working on a full length since.
Lead single ‘Lush’ is a heavy-hearted meeting of dark sentiments and inventive instrumentals, drenched in dark shadowy tones with an aerial fresh sting on guitar. Its a melancholy anthem with raspy emotion filled gravel on vocals that almost whisper or lull, brooding and pining over an emotional wound. Heat do this tender sombre atmosphere without being totally depressing. The beautifully mellow tones on guitar and smooth synths add warmth and flashes of light to the track. Its an old school lonely cruising track with hazy vibes like a gloomy daydream. Heat display a flawless and meticulously structured track while maintaining a rawness and edge that is rugged and slurred with hazy alcohol-drowned sorrow.
