Tipperary band Kill ‘Em Charlie have released their new live EP ‘Live at Rebel Recordings’.Kill ‘Em Charlie are a 5-piece indie rock outfit. They released their debut EP, “I Hope This Works for You (‘Cause it Does for Me)”, in late 2020.
‘Live at Rebel Recordings’ is a riveting display of musicianship from Kill ‘Em Charlie. Throughout the EP the band utilize the raw aesthetic of a live show to present a tight and energetic group of songs for listeners to enjoy. Each song ignites with pounding drums, glorious melodic hooks and driving basslines. Eyes of Caelum have released their debut 6 track EP, ‘Laced in Gold’. Eyes of Caelum are a five-piece Indie Rock band from the UK, and winners of ‘Upload of the Week’ for BBC Introducing South West with their single release, ‘Human Touch’, also available on their new EP. Hailing from the South West, the band started writing during the long UK lockdown, and have since recorded with some of the best producers in the UK, to establish their sound.
‘Laced in Gold’ is an impressive indie-rock EP that showcases the catchy, passionate tunes of Eyes of Caelum. The band blend heartfelt melodies with shredding guitar riffs, soaring melodies and pummeling rhythms to create a stadium-ready wall of sound that is a joy to listen to. ‘Human Touch’, ‘Winter Sun’ and the swaggered blues dipped ‘Red Band Cigarettes’ all pound through the ears at a relentless pace evoking images of crowds at gigs bellowing back the lyrics. Sheena Stormer has released her new EP ‘Groupie Goes Rockstar’. Stormer balances elements of alternative rock, blues and 80’s pop to create a blistering EP filled to the brim with gusto and slick instrumentation. Boasting shredding guitar, elastic bass grooves and pounding drums the EP exudes a dynamic wall of sound throughout. Following a sold-out headliner at the famous Cobblestone Venue, Luke Clerkin has released his highly anticipated ‘Owl Compass’ EP. Owl Compass was recorded remotely between Dublin and Berlin with producer jaako. This will mark the culmination of their work together, a partnership which began in late 2020. Three singles from the EP ‘Lost in Translation’, ‘Normal People’ and ‘Fall in Line’ have already gained critical and radio success getting support from Spin, RTE and BBC amongst others.Clerkin has decided to donate funds from the release to SCOOP Foundation Ukraine Emergency Response.
‘Owl Compass’ is a beautifully crafted EP. Luke Clerkin displays his exquisite musicianship by putting together a satisfying and cohesive collection of tracks that are sensitive and carefree while richly displaying his musical prowess. Throughout the EP Clerkin showcases his ability to find the sweet spot between genres to create luscious tunes for the listener to indulge in. His previously released singles, ‘Lost in Translation’, ‘Normal People’ and ‘Fall in Line’ all flood with lush melodies and cinematic soundscapes that blend electronic pop with indie while ‘Catch Up’ glimmers with folk tones and heartfelt songwriting. Each track is a joy to listen to and flows into the next with ease while also revealing hidden musical gems on each subsequent listen from subtle catchy refrains, clever lyrics to deft production. ‘Owl Compass’ is a thoroughly enjoyable listening experience.
Talking about the release of ‘Owl Compass’, Luke said ‘‘I can’t believe it’s finally coming out! We’ve been working on these songs and these releases since late 2020. SO much love has gone into this project, and so much growth has come from it! I’m also excited that people will finally be able to listen to ‘Catch Up’, it’s both mine and jaako’s favourite song, and possibly the most personal song I’ve ever written!’.
‘Life Without Colour’ is the debut EP release from 20-year-old artist Maikoh Webbe. Written as an expression of his journey with mental health issues, bullying, loneliness and addiction, ‘Life Without Colour’ is a powerful portrayal of real-life experiences. This four-track EP was written, recorded, mixed and mastered from Maikoh Webbe’s bedroom.
‘Life Without Colour’ is a poignant collection of tracks that blends grunge vibes with earnest songwriting to create a wholly consuming listening experience. Heavy guitar and pounding drums provide a powerful foundation for strikingly mournful vocals in ‘Suffer In Silence’ while ‘How Does It Feel?’ flows with bittersweet emotion and heartbreaking lyrical content as Webbe’s sombre vocals croon “tell me how it feels to be loved, to be wanted, to be anything but haunted” over a building backdrop of biting guitars. Alternative Metal band Concrete Colossus have released their new EP, ‘Dead Man’s Hand’. Dallas, Texas-based band Concrete Colossus was formed out of the love of jamming. The five band members had previously been in different bands, developing their skills and honing their individual sounds. When frontman Brandon returned from the military wanting to get back into music he slowly gathered the collective that would come to be Concrete Colossus around him. Initially a jamming project, they quickly realised they were onto something.
Riding in on an explosive soundscape of pure unadulterated fury, ‘Dead Man’s Hand’ is a hard-hitting collection of alternative rock. Not for the faint-hearted, this five-track EP pulses with a raw battering of heavy instrumentation. Utilizing jagged lacerations on guitars with rampant bloodthirsty bass grooves mangled between mammoth drums; songs like ‘Ezekiel 25:17’ and ‘Incarceration’ are ground-shaking forces of nature. Filled with coarse metal elements, growling vocals and savage instrumental builds that surge through a thick alternative wall of sound ‘Dead Man’s Hand’ is an enjoyable maelstrom of mighty musicianship from Concrete Colossus.
Limerick City five-piece, Dylan Flynn and The Dead Poets are set to released their sophomore EP, ‘crazy how we live like this’ tomorrow February 10th . The Indie Rock outfit released singles from this collection throughout 2021, with the latest being ‘i wasn’t ready’, which dropped last week. All the songs on this EP were recorded and produced by the band themselves in their studio space in Limerick City. The EP consists of 8 tracks, including 2 bonus tracks, which are stripped back live versions. 2021 was a big year for the band seeing them gain over 40k streams on Spotify and support acts such as NewDad and True Tides on dates of their Irish tours. They received airtime across major Irish stations such as Today FM, RTE 2XM and Spin SW, and also sold out their own headline show in Dolan’s, Limerick.
Wrapped in warm heartfelt melodies, twinkling indie soundscapes and meaningful songwriting ‘crazy how we live like this’ is a lush listening experience from Dylan Flynn and The Dead Poets. ‘Time’ is the brand new EP from Australian Folk/Rock duo Piperlain. Featuring songs written during the early stages of collaboration between Piperlain artists Ben and Bec, ‘Time’ is the culmination of years of work and partnership. Recorded at MusicPro studios by engineer Paul Iannuzzelli and mastered at Abbey Road Studios in London by engineer Geoff Pesche, ‘Time’ was originally scheduled for release in 2019 but was delayed due to the pandemic.
