Otherkin ‘On & On’

Carrying on swiftly from the buzz of their previous single ‘All That Remains Won’t Be The Same’, Irish alternative rock band Otherkin continue in fine form with the release of their latest single ‘On & On’, coming alongside the announcement of UK tour dates this Autumn. The band have enjoyed significant success in recent times, with airplay support from BBC RADIO 1 as well as radio play back in Ireland and playlist support on all the main streaming platforms.

‘On & On’ is a swagger dripping gem as Otherkin flourish the glimmering electronic facet to their sound. Featuring a kick ass guitar riff, groove infested rhythm and darkly-smothered wall of sound this dazzling number swarms in, swanky, chic and engulfed in attitude. The raspy vocals pour over the infectious melody while the frazzling backdrop, elastic bass and shrilling guitars create the most breathtaking, adrenaline inducing listening experience. With a catchy chorus, peppy key jingles, rich production and mind melting dance-floor vibes this exhilarating new track is another gush of Otherkin’s outstanding sound. These guys are on a roll.

Speaking on their inspiration, the band say: ‘’We were listening to a ton of French House before making ‘On & On’ and felt inspired to make a song for the dance floor. As we were approaching it from the context of being a guitar band, we thought it would be cool to break the song up with a huge riff, bringing the two worlds together. We paired it with a story of a guy we know who’s a conniving, scheming weasel that’ll never change his ways, regardless of what happens to him. This song is like one fist in the air and one middle finger in the air to him.’’

Following an exciting Electrowerkz show in London, Otherkin will be heading back out on the road across the UK this September. Tickets will go on sale on Friday 24th May. Catch them live at the following venues:

When it was written, I was struggling to get a grip on how I was feeling day to day – it felt as though it could literally be down to a flip of a coin. One moment I was over the moon happy, the next I was through the floor hopeless and experiencing a lot of physical pain. I was aware how it must have been for someone to see me like that and i just wanted everything to stop.”

Otherkin ‘All That Remains Won’t Be the Same’

Following on from their recent, critically-acclaimed comeback single ‘Tombstone’, Irish four-piece Otherkin have released their new single ‘All That Remains Won’t Be the Same’.  The single (as with Tombstone’) comes from the same sessions in Brighton with Chemical Brothers producer Steve Dub, and Jolyon Thomas (Royal Blood, Slaves) on mix duties

‘All That Remains Won’t Be the Same’ brings a crunching cinematic feel to Otherkin’s sound. The track is tightly wound as intense anthemic synths add a determined edge and 80’s sheen. This track gallops in on hefty drum thuds while the lone ranger guitars whine over the feisty backdrop. With its dark theatrical approach, triumphant synths, and all out epic tone  ‘All That Remains Won’t Be the Same’ is a shift in the four pieces’ sound that makes Otherkin an important band to keep an eye on. These guys pack a lot of emotion and character through the guitars as they glimmer, pine and shrill through the ominous hued soundscapes. The track injects a hefty dose of mosh ready aggro and instrumental battering however the band cleverly weave this through their refined and compelling lyrical content. Another impressive and invigorating track from Otherkin.

Speaking on the track, frontman Luke Reilly states: “The lyrics were written at the end of 2017 as the horror stories emerged of everyday abuse and sexism perpetrated by men of power in all walks of life. The song is a rejection of anyone who feels they can behave that way and the title itself is a declaration for change, a statement that these vile actions have no place in society today.”
