Toronto’s dynamic 8-piece band Gold Complex have released their new single ‘Driver’.Having regularly sold out renowned venues such as Lee’s Palace, The Horseshoe Tavern and the MOD Club as well as having back-to-back sold out showcases at Canadian Music Week, Gold Complex is grounded in their love for energetic live performance. Following the release of their self-titled EP (currently available worldwide), Gold Complex performed on camera and had their music licensed on the television series Open Heart, currently on Netflix. They have been in regular rotation on CBC Radio One, CUIT FM and college/community radio nationwide. The band is set to release their debut full-length album ‘New Soul’ on February 22nd.
‘Driver’ is a slinky slice of funk flavoured pop rock. Richly garnished this spicy number groves and glides with swagger swept through a three-piece horn section and smooth vocal harmonies. RootNotes are a new funk band from Walsall, West Midlands consisting of members Jordan Harris (guitar/vocals) , Kieran Osbourne (drums/vocals), James Potts (saxophone), Matty Cross (guitar) and Daniel Evans (bass). The band are set to release their debut single ‘Move To This’ on all major platforms on July 27th with a video dropping on YouTube the same day. ‘Move To This’ was recorded at Magic Garden Studios by Gavin Monaghan, who has worked with the likes of Robert Plant, Kings of Leon, The Blinders, The Twang and many more.

Miles Kane has released the new single and title track of his anticipated third album ‘Coup De Grace’. It is the second taste of the album following the release of the Jamie T and Lana Del Rey collaboration ‘Loaded‘ earlier this year. The album which follows predecessor ‘Don’t Forget Who You Are’ from 2013 is set for release on August 10.
‘Coup De Grace’ is a snazzy, disco hued dazzling glam rock display from Kane that is sure to have you shaking and grooving mindlessly. The stomping beat slaps and rebounds off fluctuant jangly glitter-soaked guitars while Kane’s vocals glissade upon the infectious melody with swagger and charisma. It’s 70’s esque foot tapping frenzy as the verses cruise and slide with a luring quality right up to the bursting sing along ready chorus. Doused in funky vibes this track steam rolls in with all its flamboyant trance inducing glory to wrestle your mind with its swanky chicness sprawled on top of glam rock finesse. Dublin based Gorilla Troubadour have released their new single ‘The Apple Truck’. Gorilla Troubadour are an emerging energetic funk rock band that consists of Dylan Kearns (Lead Vocals/Rhythm guitar), Eamon Ganley (lead guitar), Eric Walsh (drums) and James O Connor (Bass). The group take inspiration from bands such as ‘The Red Hot Chilli Peppers’ and ‘Arctic Monkeys’ to create heart pumping grooves and atmospheric tunes. In summer 2017 they played venues across Ireland including Limerick, Waterford and Mullingar. Later that year the band headlined Whelan’s on the 10th of October to a full house. A launch gig is set for the 4th of April 2018 in Whelan’s along with multiple dates across the country including Cork, Limerick, Waterford and Wicklow with more to be confirmed.
‘The Apple Truck’ is an impressive swagger-soaked blast of funk rock at its best. This young band display a mature sharp sound that exudes strutting panache smeared on top of ballsy gritty rock. From the start of that opening riff this track steams and blisters with gritty red-hot charisma. With vaporous stings on guitar teamed with a meaty flexible drum beat and sensual bass lines Gorilla Troubadour belt out a thrilling wild beast. This track takes its time unraveling its lush sound slowly as it coolly cruises in on a funky carpet of chicness. It’s all about the groove, this four piece keep it tight as the guitars follow the rhythm neatly then find their spaces to shine with a sultry whine or shredding solo. The melody and simple vocals dance on top of the infectious groove for the verses while the chorus explodes in true rock and roll manner. It’s catchy well-crafted and definitely makes these guys ones to watch out for.
Grungy-disco four-piece MUNKY have released their new single ‘7am’. With an oh so smooth funky intro of soft taps and sweet backing vocal croons ‘7am’ glides in, swagger soaked locked and loaded to flood your ears with bluesy drenched bliss. With a moody bass line and mellow twinkles on guitar to start they ease you into the laid back sombre filled track. The song builds becoming more gritty and expressive as scratchy slivers of guitar wail and whine over an elastic rhythm. These guys know how to deliver a clean cut, crisp track while blurring it with wobbly psychedelia and adding a healthy dose of fuzz on top. Zachary Stephenson’s vocals agonise while slick grooves and sizzling riffs cruise in with bluesy sensuality and panache. The track builds to a massive instrumental crescendo that pierces through you with an intense jolt of electricity. Smothered in dark tones it’s a heavy hitter and who doesn’t love a good “do do do” lyric. These guys are maturing nicely if you thought their sound was good before check ‘7am’ out and be prepared to be blown away. Such refined production meticulous musicianship and intense sultry energy all packed into one perfectly timed brooding track. So good.

It’s a funky effortlessly smooth track that drifts in with swagger soaked vocals spread upon a sleek liquefying flaunty melody and buoyant rhythm. It’s stamped with the chicness and cruising swagger of this swanky four piece. With an elastic exuberant bass teamed with vibrant shimmers on guitar its a rich luscious display. Accidents in the Workplace have released their new single ‘Wake Up’ along with an accompanying video. The band were formed in early 2016 and made their live debut that June at Vantastival Music Festival. Formed from the ashes of a Puerto Rican cult band, Birdsworth began its collective life 18 months ago. Since then they have opened for The Milk, The Rifles, New Street Adventure and host their own club night known as the GRAVY BASS SOCIAL. They have recently released their new single ‘Treat You Good. The trio have self produced and recorded all of their singles themselves in a shed. They also have their own brand of teabags thrown out for free at every gig, so if your a tea lover head to one of their live shows for that.
‘Treat You Good’ is a rippling flexuous track with a groovy bass and wobbly beat. Its infectious melody and effortlessly cool style makes this track instantly likable. Smothered in dreamy tones with a rush of Funkadelic waves its richly textured and layered. With sing along friendly falsetto “oh oh” lyric you will be hooked from the start. These guys know what they are doing and have created an energetic little ditty exuding swagger and strut-like oomph.

The LA duo Hank Fontaine and Charlotte Fontaine have released their new single ‘Evaporate’. Sprinkling their new-wave rock with energetic funk The Fontaines glide in with swooney effortless cool grooves smothered in steamy sensual vibes. Dripping in sticky bouncy guitar riffs its a tempting bounce of sassy swagger. Charlotte’s vocals softly cruise with flirty charm and a sultry smoulder that is thrilling. The gentle drum beat teamed with elastic slap on bass gives a sensual luring sticky effect that adds to the entire sizzling sweltering humidity of the track. The lyrics narrate a “catch and release” relationship which only exists in the bedroom. The Fontaines are currently finishing up their debut full-length album which is set for release later this year.
