Why We Like It: It’s a bubbling can of catchy hook driven indie pop. With an infectious bass groove, a relentless finger clicking beat that bounces back with snappy vitality teamed with strut quality guitar strides. it’s an effortless cool smooth track that flows in on a wave of good times and peppy attitude. This trio have created a slick warm tune polished, sweet and sunkissed.

 Glass Hour

Genre: Piano Pop-Rock

Bio: Glass Hour is a pop-rock band from Montreal comprised of members Caleb Smith (Bass), Joey Reda (Guitar), Will Bennett (Drums) and Keegan Boulineau (Vocals, Piano, Guitar). With a generous incorporation of piano combined with a signature guitar sound, their music ranges from massive arena rockers to intimate, soul-warming songs. Their debut album entitled ‘Minute Hand’ is set for release today August 18th, 2017.

Why We Like It: It’s a sweet elegant blend of soaring electronic soundscapes and delicate piano twinkles. Lush vocals and heavenly harmonies create a graceful passionate and highly emotional track that lifts to new heights as the song progresses. Vertebrae

Genre: Alternative/Grit Pop

Bio: Vertebrae is London based trio Daire Mulvihill, Josh Clark and Jonny Rogers. They have previously been involved with numerous festivals around the U.K including Tramlines in Sheffield, Great Escape in Brighton as well as Camden Rocks in London. They have also been busy building up a loyal following by working with some of the UK’s top promoters and playing some of it’s best venues including O2 Academy Islington, The Old Blue Last, Birthdays, Seabright Arms and The Black Heart among others. Vertebrae have just released their exciting new single ‘Half The Time’ (which is already receiving much attention including radio airplay and numerous features in respected music publications, webzines and blogs) and was produced by the renowned Neil D Kennedy who has worked with many up and coming bands on the U.K Alternative scene including Creeper, Milk Teeth, Trash Boat and Bad Sign to name just a few

Why We Like It: It’s a thrilling gritty kick ass rock track complete with raspy vocals punchy drums and slick guitar. Passionate and emotional with a Nickelback-esque nostalgia with  guitar melodies and bass rumble reminiscent of Kings of Leon this hard-rock anthem is a throbbing head nodder. Building as the track progresses becoming a little heavier and mosh ready Vertebrae know when to hold a tender gentle tone and when to overwhelm with raw heavy moving melodic longing.

Bio: Consisting of members Marc Ó Cearnaigh – Guitar/Vocals,Robert McDonnell – Guitar/Vocals

Rylands Heath

Bio: Rylands Heath is made up of Luton school friends James and Jack who’ve been playing music together since they were 13. They combine their keen ear for melody and knack for huge harmonies with a wide range of musical influences to create snappy, genre-bending tunes, ranging from gritty to outright anthemic. Despite their young age the duo have collectively worked with or played with the likes of Izzy Bizu, Declan McKenna, The Amazons as well as being featured on BBC introducing.

 Pavey Ark

Genre: Indie-folk

Bio: Since forming in February 2016, Pavey Ark have wasted no time in establishing themselves as one of the best new acts in the UK City of Culture. Led by singer-songwriter Neil Thomas, the band have performed on two Glastonbury stages, blown away audience at Festival 8 and picked up press acclaim from local press. Radio has also been quick to spot their talents, with early airplay from BBC Introducing, BBC Humberside and Amazing Radio cementing their status as ones to watch. Hidden Hills is the lead track from their newly released debut EP Leaf By Leaf.

When asked about the track main songwriter Thomas said: , “We are just a brief flicker in comparison to everything around us, It was all here long before we arrived and will be around long after we’re gone. It’s about meeting the person you love, a chance encounter within that huge expanse of time – and how special that is.”

Why We Like It: Its packed with rich ethereal melodies delicately blended with warm nimble interweaving folk-rock guitars and sweet strings that elegantly glide creating a beautiful affluent sound. With stunning percussive drums, adding a chunky yet elastic texture its complex and sublime.

When asked about the track Baul said: “These Days is about the current state of today’s misguided youth culture. Idolising reality TV morons, offering no love or empathy for one another – just a self-obsessed drive to conform with what is perceived as fitting in. It’s a response to those values and pressures”.

Why we Like It: Its a high powered ball of neck snapping energy. Blasting with with frantic guitars and crashing drums alongside cutting, wry lyrics and a shredding guitar solo, its a rugged kinetic explosion of catchy garage-rock.

 Rusty Shipp

Genre: grunge rock

Bio: Rusty Shipp is a rock band from Nashville, TN that likes to call their style Nautical rock n’ roll. They combine the influences of rock legends like The Beatles, Dick Dale and The Beach Boys with the hard-hitting sounds of modern alt rock bands like Nirvana, Muse, and Thrice to craft songs distinguished by their addictive melodies, unconventional riffs, and haunting vocals. At the forefront is the singer-songwriter and guitarist, Russ T. Shipp (literally his birth name), followed by Jake Adams on bass, and AJ Newton on drums.

Track: Devil Jonah

When asked about their sound Russ T. explained: “Though we’re noticeably darker and more aggressive than The Beatles, Their form of songwriting resonates with the largest number of human beings, and we try to tap into that same magic. Bands like Nirvana and Muse did the same thing, but we’re taking it in an even more philosophical direction, while still having fun by incorporating the nautical theme.”

Why We Like It: Its a mighty pounding piece of unconventional rock wrapped in dark pop melodies which are set alight by metallic riffs and heavy headbang ready instrumentation. Its fiery gritty and brawny, thundery and robust in all the right places.

The Discarded

Bio: Toronto garage-rockers The Discarded is made up of two teenagers and their musician father, brothers Jared Dean-Bass, backing vocals, Caden Jax- Drums, backing vocals and J.P Wasson is best known as the drummer for popular Toronto bands Fifth Column and The Snowdogs, but Caden wanted to drum – so in The Discarded, Dad sings and plays guitar.

Track: Could That Be You

When asked about the track Wasson said: “Could That Be You was the first song I wrote with the band and it came together very quickly. Over the previous months, the boys’ mother and I had divorced. This song is about looking forward and what qualities you’d like a person to have in a new relationship. And ultimately wondering if that person you are seeing is that type of person.”

Why we Like It: It’s a rapid breakneck fuzzy frenzy covered track. Blistering guitars and pummelling drums belting throughout with a lo-fi rock n’ roll vibe that will have a live audience dancing and bopping in no time.

Jamie Martin

 

Genre: blues/soul/rock singer-songwriter

Bio: The young artist and producer from Glasgow fuses indie and soul songwriting with modern blues rock guitar heroics. Influenced by John Mayer, Ben Howard and John Martyn and known for his combination of honest and intimate live shows, Jamie offers a unique, multi-layered interpretation of the traditional solo singer-songwriter. His introduction to a music career began with production and engineering, experience which he is now utilising with his own sonically diverse and innovative recordings which recall Bon Iver and recent City & Colour albums. Following the release of his debut self-titled EP last year, Jamie played high profile shows at prestigious Glasgow venues King Tut’s, ABC and The Garage and blew away audiences at Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Jamie will be playing more live dates with his backing band this Spring and Summer.

Track: What’s The Use

When asked about the track Jamie said :
“I originally wrote this song about being divided from someone at the end of a failing relationship, but it since took on a more generalised meaning – that basing your views and definitions of right and wrong without a contrasting viewpoint splits us all into our own little self-curated social circles. Sonically, I wanted the song to follow the bleak sentiment of the lyrics with distortion on just about everything.”

Why we Like It: Its a heart wrenching passionate bluesy piece of melancholy alt. soul. With gripping yearning vocals and emotion stirring sharp guitar. Its an eloquent piece of musicianship that drips heavy doses of passion and longing from every note.

“Taste It is a song about wanting someone desperately, despite the fact that you know it’s a bad idea, That person could be almost within arm’s length, but also just out of reach – so close you can almost taste it.”
Why we Like It: Is a blistering catchy piece of indie punk. Soaked in luscious bright vibes and blazing guitar hooks this anthemic track is perfect for festival singalongs. With a sultry pre- chorus followed by a massive infectious sun soaked chorus, its instantly likeable. These guys are ones I’m sure we will be hearing a lot more of.

Bio: US indie-folk singer-songwriter Marie Danielle will release her debut UK single Soldier on Tuesday 18th April. Marie’s stunning debut album Hustler picked up Stateside acclaim last year. She’s currently touring the US, working on a new album with Simone Felice & Drive-By Truckers’ Mike Patton and will be touring the UK later this year. Marie’s dark and intelligent songwriting connects with audiences through a naked honesty about love, loss and addiction. Within a year of her first live show, Marie was touring throughout the US and Europe and her song One of My Kind was featured on an episode of the Showtime series ‘Billions.’ Currently recording new material with Drive-By Truckers bassist Mike Patton, Marie will soon be visiting the UK for new live dates.

When asked about the inspiration for ‘Soldier’ Marie Danielle said:
“I’ve tried so hard to settle down, but the only thing I’m any good at is music. When you’re in a different city every night, love is fleeting. That incessant march makes you feel like you’re fighting some kind of imagined war.”
Why We Like It: Its warm twangy indie folk that’s soaked in melancholic tones but still manages to stay positive, upbeat and bouncy. Its a timeless country track blended sweetly with folk-influenced Americana that will have you humming along and tapping your foot in no time.

Genre: Grunge rock/Blues/Soul

Bio: Formed in late 2016 when singer/guitarist Daniel Pearson (a prolific singer-songwriter with three quietly acclaimed albums behind him) joined forces with metal-loving drummer Mike Neilson, the band soon amassed a set of visceral, exciting & adventurous rock n’ roll songs that join the dots between vintage soul and the 90’s grunge explosion. Cryin’ For You is the first of three 2017 single releases, with new songs also arriving in late May and October.

“It’s one of life’s truths that love hurts, and that’s what Cryin’ For You is all about, I love a lot of old blues & soul records when you can really hear the pain and experience in the voices, and that’s what we were aiming for here – as well as laying down some big riffs and grungy fuzz. That’s pretty much the mission statement of Tooth & Nail – soul songs played loud and heavy.”

Why we Like It: Its a fiery expressive heavy hitting soulful track packed with passion and tender moments with slick bluesy elements and wallops of gritty rock. Killer riffs add a beefy brawn and gravelly texture to the burning longing track.
