Bradford five piece Fling have released their new single ‘That’s Nice’ by revered independent label Dance To The Radio. The track has recently clocked up radio plays with Huw Stephens, Steve Lamacq & Zane Lowe. The band were described as ‘off kilter pop-perfection’ by Wonderland and have been garnering critical praise from all areas of the indie world with Steve Lamacq playing the band numerous times on BBC 6 Music alongside extensive spins from Radio X and even Beats 1 jumping on board. New single ‘That’s Nice’ is a sugar coated indie pop tune, smooth and sleek this quintet have created a laid-back indie pop dazzler that celebrates the natural things in life. A smooth hazy track about having sex, it’s blatant, exuberant and insanely catchy. The sultry guitar licks weave between a honey drizzled melody and spongy beat they cruise in with laid back verses and sizzling instrumentation. Its warm tones wrapped in cosy fuzzy joyous vibes and good times. From the opening catchy keys riff to the scorching guitar and velvety raspy vocals its instantly likeable. It’s a natural floral and wreaths, irresistible homage to the finer things in life put to dreamy sweet music.

With band members that hail from as far afield as Bulgaria and Finland, indie-pop four-piece Hayes & Y harbour a somewhat continental feel that immediately sets them apart from their quintessentially British contemporaries. Having moved to the UK just a couple of years ago, the four-piece have assimilated quickly, becoming a part of their new country’s scene and taking shows at some of Britain’s best-loved venues in their stride, including the likes of London’s Dublin Castle, and Manchester’s iconic Night & Day Cafe, as well as a notable slot on the Spirit of Burgas festival in Bulgaria supporting Kasabian. With three EPs already under their belt the band have now released their latest single ‘Always So Simple, Always So Cold’. This cruising 80’s electronica flavoured track glides with effortlessly cool swagger and slicked back groovy vibes. Rolling bass lines teamed with frenetic winding guitar licks add an elastic sensual chilled back allurement while also creating a brooding moody foundation for the electronic wavy soundscapes to bounce off. The 80’s infused synths add a shimmering sparkle, breezy freshness and infectious disco dance vibe. Oh, so smooth and creamy the melody fluidly coats the rippled soundscapes while a slapping sticky beat adds a steamy sultry quality. Hayes & Y present the track in a seemingly effortless way creating a laid back hazy tune thats irresistible from the start. The vocals are sweet and luscious and oozing passion and emotion. It’s a delicious can of sugary smooth pop with a dash of zest provided by the sting on guitars – its refreshing, lush and chilled.

In support of their single ‘Indigo’ Dublin fourpiece Brass Phantoms will be playing upstairs in Whelan’s on Friday October 27th. The single is the follow-up to recent single ‘City Of Wolves’ which we previously featured on Indie Buddie. The band have garnered airplay all over Irish radio, as well as being featured on BBC Radio 6 with Steve Lamacq, Spotify Discover Weekly, and Amazing Radio. Earlier this year they were listed as The Metro’s ‘Artist Of The Week’. They have headlined shows throughout Ireland, as well as New York this month for their first US dates which will be followed by a UK and Irish tour.
‘Indigo’ is a euphoric indie gem, smothered in areal breezy tones and oozing oodles of passion. Biting blustery guitars swirl and soar crashing into a galloping rumbling beat while Ryan Cashell’s unique powerful vocals add potency and might. It’s passionate and intense with little anthemic bursts that are blissfully aerial and refreshing. These guys have a knack for packing a lot into their tracks and ‘Indigo’ is no different. It’s brimming with luscious indie pop melodies consumed in a whirlpool of rich ethereal soundscapes creating a kinetic catchy tune that shows their refined musicianship and is sure to be amazing live.
The video for ‘Indigo’ was produced by Alan McCarthy. It shows a dancer performing a routine in a hall alongside a live performance by the band, which builds in intensity with the song. 13-year-old Alicia Premkumar stars as the dancer in the video.

The Curious are an Indie/Alternative band from London. The five piece consists of members Dominic Smith (Lead Vocals), Sam Roberts (Drums), Lewy Rutherford (Guitar and Vocals), James Cooper (Guitar and Vocals) and Alexander Nuti (Bass). They have released a video for their track ‘Gentleman’ taken off their ‘Electric Sheep’ EP. This infectious snappy ditty bops, hops and shakes with refreshing zing and swagger oozing indie. It’s an intoxicating guitar driven slice of slick, musicianship from the shredding razor-sharp guitar solos and jagged stinging riffs to the sticky elastic rhythm that rebounds and springs with a glutinous vitality. With a melty delicious melody and slick panache drenched vocals, its sure to get those feet tapping and body grooving in no time. Animated, extremely energetic and likable its one to put on repeat, let everything go and dance around the room to. These guys have a tight refined sound that is so cool, slick and fun all while packing some luscious melodies with sophisticated snazzy instrumentation. Keep an eye out for these guys.
Newcastle upon Tyne based noisy, artsy indie-rock trio Swine Tax have released their fourth single ‘Feels Like’. Taking influence from Pavement, the National and Parquet Courts, Swine Tax continually strive to create music prolifically and unerringly explore new sonic and emotional territory – an ethos which is underpinned by their commitment to writing, recording and mixing every song independently. The track was largely written and recorded during the band’s intensive August residency at the iconic Sage Gateshead music venue, having been chosen from artists across the north-east of England to compose new material in their time there. Born out of these productive sessions, this latest single perhaps provides the most accurate representation of Swine Tax’s unpredictable, emotional and, at times, euphoric live performances.
‘Feels Like’ is a woozy spin of blusterous indie rock. Beginning disguised as a croony, hazy, dream pop tune with a smooth guitar jingle and soft beat doused in a sun kissed melody. The track builds becoming more intense and sharp. Crashing guitars shrill and smash against boisterous pounding drums and strident soundscapes add a piercing razors edge. With a playful vocal delivery and boppy bubbly exterior it’s instantly likeable. The splintery guitar solo radiates golden flashes of scintillation while still piercing with a shrilling sting. Upbeat and fizzy it has all the elements of a perfect indie rock track.
Leeds five-piece Indie Rock band Atlanta House have released their debut EP entitled ‘Home’. Which was produced by Roni Szpakowski of Peak Studios. The band have supported Circa Waves, Marsicans King No-One and Space, as well as performed at Tramlines and the inaugural Kazoopa Festival in November 2016. ’Home’ splashes out Atlanta Houses’ infectious blend of indie rock in all its blazing glory. ‘House’ kicks off the EP with mystery smothered in darkness. Spoken vocals narrate the harrowing lyrics to a simple accompaniment and steady beat. The track explodes into a mighty almost punk/grunge-esque shouting with screeching, crashing and fierce punch on drums. Just over a minute and a half it wakes you up and grabs your attention for the rest of the EP. The slick, polished snappy ‘Last Card’ follows. Sharp guitars stride and soar over the catchy melody piercing through the punchy drums and rumble on bass. Smooth vocals exude passion and become the softener throughout the breezy aerial track. ‘Casa (En Llamas)’ ah the gentle slow burner, sweet and delicate with a melty dreamy melody that could have fallen from heaven. Passionate and expressive the track builds becoming a little more powerful for the chorus without ruining the tender beautiful sway-like tempo. It’s the slow dance of the EP and it’s not half arsed either these lads pack a lot of emotion in this track. This little sweetheart is tender and affectionate and quite enchanting, a bit of a tear jerker. ‘Cold Love’ which we recently featured on Indie Buddie follows easing us out of the feathery lightness of its predecessor. It’s darker though, with an elastic bass and sliding guitars adding a blustery gust to the pop sprinkled track. ‘Home’ brings the EP to a blistering end. Rumbling drums bubble and boil while dark toned vocals add a chilling mystery and danger for the verses. The chorus explodes into an anthemic youthful burst of crashing guitars and punchy drums. Sharp stings on guitar flicker in and out of the verses creating flashes of bright scintillation through the thick murky atmosphere.
Atlanta House ‘Home’ is a fine debut EP. The hooks are plentiful, the energy is explosive and the melodies are sublime, sure some tracks are a bit Catfish and The Bottlemen- esque, but they do it their way. This five-piece have packed a lot of diversity into this EP and show a strong competence, refinement and understanding of what sounds good. Each track hits the spot and is exuberant and glowing with life and energy. The tunes are slick and bound to be epic live.
Aldeburgh’s energetic Indie-rock trio Fick As Fieves have released their new single ‘English Weather’. Comprised with members Archie Arthur (Guitar + Bass/Vocals), Harry Campbell ( Guitar + Bass/Vocals) and Richard Aries (Drums) the band have been championed by BBC Introducing in Suffolk, and currently being featured on Spotify’s “HOT NEW BANDS” playlist, they play an upbeat style of indie rock with riff driven ear worms and tight catchy hooks which their growing audience widely recognises as their ‘own’ sound. 2017 has seen the trio release a series of singles which have generated hundreds of thousands of views and streams across many platforms, as well as playing across the UK in many well respected venues and festivals. They have supported the likes of Redfaces and have also appeared on the same bill as Slaves, Madness and Seasick Steve.
‘English Weather’ is an exuberant bouncy ball of slick indie rock. These guys have produced a snappy infectious groovy track that exudes swagger and strut- like flamboyance. Zesty shredding guitars shrill, pierce and lick while punchy peppy drums and elastic bass add a meaty yet flexible texture to the springy track. Each verse brings a new fresh dimension and layer to the sound as they showcase their ductile and proficiently intricate guitar work and musicianship. It’s finger clicking good and catchy as hell while remaining laid back and cool. ‘English Weather’ glides in on a wave of foot shuffling slicked back panache induced rock and roll. It’s a pretty impressive track that blast these guys into the ones to watch list.

The track follows the success of their last single ‘Girlfriend’, which earned the band playlists slots with Ditto Music, Spotify, Hattie Pearson and Shell Zenner along with BBC Introducing ‘Track of the Week’, support from Huw Stephens on Radio 1 and a plethora of media. With upcoming shows supporting The Big Moon and MISFIRES, whispers of a headline tour around the corner and previous shows headlining a stage at Dot To Dot, slots at Threshold and Sonder Festival as well as slots supporting All Tvvins, Honeyblood, LIFE, King No-One and PINS these guys are really grabbing attention and making their sound heard.
‘Lush’ is a juicy burst of refreshing indie pop. Smooth and breezy these guys glide in on an effortlessly cool wave of sun soaked indie sprinkled pop with a hint of grunge underneath. Dreamy lavish soundscapes swish around sharp guitar stings and a soft bouncy beat. It’s anthemic with a catchy chorus and exhilarating instrumentals. It’s an adrenaline rush of youthful bliss. Sugar coated and sweet yet blustery and raw. Fears Chella keep their sound edgy and polished at the same time to create a hazy dreamy, airy almost chaotic 90’s tinged indie banger. To put it simply it’s well ‘Lush’.
Reading Indie four piece Mellor have released their new single ‘Bone Idle’. The band consisting of members Gary, Sam, Kris, and Josh have had a whole host of national and regional media support from the likes of Absolute Radio, BBC6 Music, BBC Berkshire, BBC London, and BBC Introducing. Labelled by Alt Reading as “one of Reading’s most exciting acts”, they bring a live show packed with high energy, raucous vocals, big guitar riffs, and pounding drums. The bands dedicated following is steadily on the rise thanks to shows up and down the UK sharing stages with the likes of The Kooks, Frankie & The Heartstrings, Carl Barat & The Jackals, Flyte, and The Milk.
‘Bone Idle’ is a snappy infectious buzz filled blast of indie rock. Energetic and high powered it sends shivers down your spine creating groove induced dance and shimmy symptoms. ‘Cold Love’ is a dark throbbing breezy indie rock track. Thudding drums back a luring eerie verse while guitars glisten and flicker in-between. The chorus blasts in with a catching pop drizzled melody while blistering guitars stride, piercing against rich textured percussion and smooth swagger filled vocals. It’s anthemic and mighty with sharp injections of breezy stinging soundscapes. Passionate and melodic it strikes you with a melancholic melody and powerful intricate instrumentation. The rumbling elastic bass and sliding guitars brings the shadowy bridge to life creating a hair raising effect. The track builds to a massive crescendo featuring soaring instrumentation with crashing guitars and meaty drums. Atlanta House have created a track that is immensely emotive and explosive yet chilling and eerie. Slick and radio friendly it’s polished but maintains enough rawness to keep it sharp and thrilling.
