The Gallerys

Genre: Indie

Bio: Hailing from Kent’s Tunbridge Wells & Maidstone, The Gallerys exploded onto the UK music circuit in 2017 with their unique blend of 60s rock, Britpop and indie sounds which gained them immediate attention from BBC Introducing, Fred Perry Subculture & This Feeling.Having shared the stage with Louis Berry, Madness, The Sherlocks, Scouting For Girls, The Blinders, The King Blues, The Skints, Dr. Feelgood, Space, Alan McGee and embarking on UK tours with both The Rifles and The Bluetones, as well as going on two UK headline tours of their own, they are no stranger to huge crowds and quickly sell out their headline shows.

Track: You’re a Dreamer

Why We Like It: Emotionally tender – this delightful, sweetly melodic, indie pop number boasts The Gallerys vibrant sound at its best. With jangly guitars, buoyant drums and a clamorous yet honeyed wall of sound the band create a tender track that is bitter/sweet yet charming and catchy. Lyrically the song is about feeling helpless about a loved one who is lost in life and finding it difficult to get out of a mental rut of low ambition and self-sabotaging behaviours. The songs narrator can merely sit back and watch the loved one being a ‘dreamer’ for a better life. The band portray this theme through a melancholic soft melody, velvety vocals and punchy instrumentation filled with tones of hope and encouragement. A sublime new track from The Gallerys.

Kent alternative rock band The Gallerys have released their new single ‘On the Other Side’. The song was written by Craig Barden, arranged by The Gallerys, recorded at Squarehead Studios in Sittingbourne, Kent. It was engineered and mixed by James Simpson, and mastered by Kristofer Harris.

‘On the Other Side’ is a sweet slice of indie rock with 60’s elements and luscious sounds. The soft melody melts beautifully on a blustery backdrop of blistering guitars and punchy drums as The Gallerys weave edged raw indie rock into their exquisite melodious musicianship. With delicate harmonies creating a doo-wop candy floss texture the track creates a rose-tinted glow and cheery effect. With lyrics about forgetting your problems by having a good time ‘On the Other Side’ is a dreamy number filled with the illusion of hope and optimism. With a shredding rock ‘n‘ roll solo and edged harsh undertone The Gallerys keep the track fresh and instantly likeable.

About the track the band said “ ‘On the Other Side’ is an alternative indie rock track written about forgetting your problems by having a good time. the ‘Other Side’ is that place we all know and feel when we’ve had a few drinks and feel invincible. When we’re in that good place we have a ‘rosy gaze’ on and forget about all the problems and issues of our everyday lives but we’re actually just ‘living in the land of lies.’’

‘Lucid Trail’ blends dreamy delicate 60’s pop flavours with indie, britpop and new wave hues. There is plenty of sweet tones and ethereal vibes fluttering through this EP. Title track ‘Lucid Trail’ is a beautifully tender acoustic track which glides and wisps gently around a steady beat, warm vocals and soothing acoustic guitar. The heartwarming wholesome tones flood through each track on the EP and make it such a glorious easy listen. Each song overflows with sparkling melodies as the arrangements sustain a balance between sweet simplicity and rich intricacy. The gloomy Smiths- esque ‘Shadow Street’ showcases the trios tight harmonies and catchy melodic flow as they venture into their heavier more alternative rock side. The rhythms throughout the EP supply a steady foundation for the luscious melodies to playfully wander around while adding a joyful bounce and meaty punch at times. ‘Steady Beat’ in particular fleshes out the weighty side to their sound. It is a little punk- like as jagged guitars slice through the hefty drum whacks while the vocals become a dash more aggressive. The band bring the EP to a close with the heavenly ‘Silver Lining’. Another blast of lush harmonies, glorious melodies and a 60’s pop vibe.

The Gallerys provide something for everyone with this enthralling EP. Shredding guitar solos, cosy luscious melodies and tender emotional tones all seamlessly blended into a short four track spin.
